When did you start singing?
It was in the beginning of 1996.
How did you begin singing?
Once being with a friend I was singing to myself and when I stopped he told me to keep singing and that I had a nice voice and should become a singer. But I didn't pay any attention to my talent because of the war in our country at the time.
So the war and hard life in Afghanistan affected you so you couldn?t evolve in your art?
Yes of course and a lot. At one time when I was mayb around fourteen years old I had made a drum set from two small boxes and I was sitting in the yard and playing (laugh hehe). Suddenly I heard my mother coming and she said to me: ?Don?t you hear how many people are crying due to having lost their family, and you sitting here and playing drums?
In those times life was really tough and I was forced to work hard to manage financially. These things caused that I couldn't evolve in my art.
Who was your favourite singer?
At that time I used to sing Ahmad Zahir's songs all the time to myself. Especially Tanha Shodam Tanha and Kistam man Rahnawar.
But my favourite singer has always been Farhad Darya.
After all your effort you have now succeeded and made your own first Album. Are you satisfied with the results of it?
Yes of course I am and I could have made it better but the idea came afterwards when I had already published the album. I can tell that my next album which I'm working on is going to be much better. I must not forget to thank Mirwais Mobtala which made the songs and gave me the pride to sing them.
How come you named your album ROSHANIi (light)?
Well, I have always dreamed of making my own album and become a good singer so I choose Roshani as a light to my art of music.
Which song is your favourite one?
Clearly it's Roshani
What do you think of today's afghan music?
It?s a pity to say, but it's really bad.
Why is that?
Any person, without knowledge in the art of music, with a keyboard gets on the stage and begins singing. They just use a single electric rhythm and its shame and pity for us. Visit www.afghanhits.com and you can judge for yourself.
Is there anything you would like to tell your listeners?
Yes, I must mention to our people to please not copy any afghan CDs as a help for afghan music. If you pay for a CD instead of copying, it can help the musician a lot to make his/her next album much better.
